Information For Authors
The Journal of Dira ya Lugha (JADILU) was established in 2023. It is an international journal that publishes its articles twice a year. JADILU aims to stimulate discussions related to Kiswahili studies (linguistics, language, literature, etc.) and related disciplines (such as translation and interpretation). This journal serves as an essential source for disseminating knowledge generated from various research studies in the field of Kiswahili. The journal is available in both hard copy and digital (online) formats.
The main objective of JADILU is to promote, spread, and expand the Swahili language and the culture of the Swahili and African people. Therefore, we encourage scholars, researchers, and various experts to submit articles from all fields of Kiswahili, Translation, Interpretation, and Swahili Culture from around the world for publication in the Journal of Dira ya Lugha. We accept manuscripts written in Kiswahili and English that focus solely on Kiswahili studies.
Authors of articles are required to observe the following:
- The articles should be typed on A4 paper using Word software, in Times New Roman font, size 12, with 1.5 spacing between lines.
- The top page of the article should include: the title, author(s) name(s), email address, and the name of the institution the author is affiliated with.
- The article should be accompanied by a brief abstract of 150-250 words.
- The article should be between 3000-7500 words in length, including the abstract and references.
- Footnotes should be numbered and used only when necessary.
- References should follow the APA style, 7th edition.
- Before submitting their article, authors should thoroughly review it to ensure that all errors have been satisfactorily corrected.
All articles submitted to JADILU will undergo a thorough review process. Each article will be evaluated by at least two academic reviewers, who will analyze and provide feedback on the quality of the research, the accuracy of the arguments presented, and the contribution of the article to the relevant field. After this review, the article will be returned to the author for any necessary revisions before publication.
Note: If unavoidable circumstances prevent the release of any JADILU issue, efforts will be made to ensure a special edition is published containing all the articles intended for that issue.
